Children
As society has no meaning if it has no future, and the importance of children in a culture is a clear indication of that society’s view of its own meaning. This is not to say that everyone should have children (many should not) or that everyone need raise children (some may rationally wish not to), but society overall needs to value its children and prepare them for their future role in contributing to a healthy society.
