This section is for thoughts on the different levels of government. One thing that frustrates me to no end is the general perception of the “government” as one monolithic entity without distinguishing between the different roles of Federal, state and local governments. A very aggravating example of this was a student phone pollster from a California university who called in around 2009 with the following question: “Should the government provide public transportation?” – when asked which level of government he meant, he had absolutely no idea.
